A "splash" page is a page that is displayed only once and only when a person visits your website for the first time.
To setup this kind of page, simply add a anew page to the CMS. You should also use the Settings tab to indicate the page is public but not visible in the menu:
To enable the page, access the Website Settings from the Content Manager menu
then click the Special Pages tab and select the page in the CMS that has been setup as your splash page.
Your splash page can have its own template if required simply by selecting an alternate template from the Page Template drop down list on the Advanced tab when you're in page edit mode:
